The Hat Trick BandHAT TRICK was formed in November 1999 and performs original and classic ROCK & ROLL. Members John Heald and Joe Smith are long time Colorado residents, and have played in various bands throughout the region. Bassist Jim Mercado hails from the Detroit-Ann Arbor music scene where he began his over twenty years of stage experience. As a group, HAT TRICK has performed at most of Denver's top venues and played many of the resort areas in the Rockies.
Named after a hockey term signifying three goals by one player, the band members are avid followers of the COLORADO AVALANCHE and the Detroit Red Wings (respectively). The music of HAT TRICK is contemporary, energetic and ranges from Alice Cooper to Van Morrison to the powerful array of original tunes that highlight every HAT TRICK performance. The new CD release "ACROBAT" demonstrates the group's ability to offer a wide and diverse variety of songs, and sounds, with the emphasis on originality and memorable compositions. No one classification of music style describes the package of hits on the CD, as each track takes the listener on a different, ROCK- N-ROLL JOURNEY. As a bonus, special appearances by some of the best players in the west, complimented by the studio performances of the trio and famous programming skills of producer Lon Von Eaton.
